“The world is crazy. Creative work is hard. Life is short and art is long. “
— Austin Kleon
Recently, I finished one of the most fantastic books I’ve read for a while: “Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad” by Austin Kleon.
It’s the first book I ever read on creativity and creative careers, so it was a whole new world I dove into, and it was totally worth it.
The book delivers precisely what the title promises: It teaches how to stay creative and keep going even during hard times.
Now, I don’t know if you are pursuing a creative career. I don’t even know if there’s a profound description of what a creative career actually is.
Aren’t we all creative in some ways? Don’t we all need to think outside of the box to solve the casual struggles life throws at us from time to time?
However, I’m convinced anyone, no matter which profession, degree or industry, can benefit from this great piece because as the author states, we all face the same struggle from time to time:
“Whether you’re burned out, starting out, starting over, or wildly successful, the question is always the same:
How to keep going?”
